Award will continue development of USV control software
Hyperion was recently awarded a Phase 1 Maryland Industrial Partnership (MIPS) to develop its unmanned surface vessel control (USV) software in conjunction with the University of Maryland. MIPS is a program designed to accelerate the commercialization of technology through collaborative R&D projects between companies and University of Maryland researchers. On this project Hyperion will work with Dr. SK Gupta and his lab for a year to create high level autonomous capabilities relating to control of unmanned boats.
Dr. Gupta has deep experience with robotic control, having multiple projects funded by the Office of Naval Research and others. Hyperion also recently secured a license option relating to Dr. Gupta’s previous USV control software.
